Layout customization for the whole site
In order to customize your individual layout with sidebar display/position for site, you need to go to menu Appearance – Customize – Design and choose appropriate variant for each site page type.
- Layout on Home – specified variant of display will be applied only to site homepage
- Layout on Post – specified variant of display will be applied to blog posts (added via menu Posts – Add new or on posts of custom type)
- Layout on Page – specified variant of display will be applied only to static pages (added via menu Pages – Add new)
- Global layout – specified variant of display will be applied to all the other site pages (this includes archives of categories, tags, authors, archives by date)
Available layout variants:
- Rightbar – to the right of main content right sidebar with widgets will be displayed (you can customize them via Appearance – Widgets)
- Leftbar – to the left of main content left sidebar with widgets will be displayed (you can customize them via menu Appearance – Widgets)
- Fullwidth – without sidebar, text on block width
- Centered – without sidebar, text width is 70% from the block width and it is centered
Layout customization for particular article or post
While editing article, page or post of custom type, you can specify individual layout. This customization for individual post has great priority and layout, specified in theme customization, will be ignored.
In order to set up individual layout go to Edit of necessary post and in right column find metabox Select layout and specify desired variant:
- Default – layout will be applied which is specified in theme customization (Appearance – Customize -Design)
- Rightbar – sidebar on the right
- Leftbar – sidebar on the left
- Fullwidth Content – without sidebar, text on the block width
- Centered Content– without sidebar, text width is 70% from the block width and it is centered
If there is no this metabox, check, if its display is enabled. On post editing page, click Screen Settings button at the top right and mark off item Select layout with tick:
